Photos from San Francisco

There's no better sailing than San Francisco Bay. It's our first sail here aboard the Aviana. Jon, a Pisces, the sign of the fish is right at home.

Dreaming of the next port?

Each sailing day is a treat. We often pack up picnic supplies, sail to Angel Island, throw out an anchor and sit for a while.

While in San Francisco we're getting the Aviana ready for her big passage. Our shake-out cruises show we need some work on our depth sounder and our knot-meter at least.

Aviana also gets a good sanding and re-varnish of her rails and her interiror lo (called 'sole')

Great winds here on the bay. It comes gusting through the Golden Gate Bridge and rips across the bay. Sometimes as high as 25 knots. Often we'll reef the main sail (adjust it to make it smaller) so the Aviana doesn't move as fast. Angel Island, though, acts as a wind-block so we can relax a bit. Great place for a picnic!
