Jon trims the sails to get a tighter, faster ride across Lake Michigan.

With each turn of the winch handle, the jib sail tightens by a fraction. Each fraction affects how the sail will catch the available wind. If the wind is coming from an angle, the sail can be a little looser....but if it's coming straight on, that jib needs to be as tight as the boat can take. Jon will loosen her up, if Sylvia thinks we're going too fast!

Sylvia is the detail person. She likes to wrap up the main sail at the end of the day to make sre i' done neatly.

The main sail is the heavier of the two sails. It stabilizes the boat in the water.

This is one of our final sails in Lake Michigan. It was a beautiful day...strong winds, good company, great view & stunning sunset
